U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr Carlos Antonio Da Rocha Paranhos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw at 11:30 am yesterday.

During the meeting, the Union Minister congratulated the Ambassador for his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. They also cordially discussed matters related to the enhancement of Myanmar-Brazil bilateral relations, the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the areas of air transport, agriculture and agricultural research, food security, livestock and technology. They also explored on the possibility of the resumption of the 4th Meeting of the Political Consultations between Myanmar and Brazil and closer collaboration under the South-South Cooperation Framework and at the multilateral fora, the United Nations in particular. The Union Minister briefed the Ambassador on the government’s efforts in overcoming the challenges facing Myanmar in its democratic transition including the repatriation of the displaced persons from Rakhine State.—MNA
