At the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi left Nay Pyi Taw for a working visit to the People’s Republic of China yesterday. During the trip, the State Counsellor will hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping and deliver a speech as the Special Guest of the Government of the People’s Republic of China at the opening ceremony of the “Communist Party of China in Dialogue with World Political Parties” High-Level Meeting to be held in Beijing. The State Counsellor was seen off at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport by Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for International Cooperation Ministry U Kyaw Tin, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Myo Aung, Mr. Yu Bianjiang, Charge d’affaires of Embassy of China in Yangon, and responsible officials from the Chinese Embassy. The State Counsellor was accompanied by U Win Khaing, Union Minister for Electric and Power and Construction, U Zaw Myint Maung, Chief Minister for Mandalay Region and U Min Thu, Deputy Minister for the President’s Office and other officials

The delegation led by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Kunming, Yunnan Province, at 11 am local time, where they were welcomed by Mr. Liu Huiyan of the CPC of Yunnan Province, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thit Lin Ohn, Ambassador of China to Myanmar Mr, Hong Liang, Myanmar Consul-General U Soe Paing and embassy staff. The State Counsellor and party proceeded to Hai Geng Garden Hotel by motorcade to attend a dinner hosted by Secretary of CPC of Yunnan Province Mr. Chen Hao. After the dinner, the delegation left for Beijing by special flight and arrived at Beijing International Airport at 5 pm local time. They were welcomed at the airport by Deputy Head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC and Military Attaché of Myanmar Brig-Gen Tint Hsan and staff of Myanmar Embassy in Beijing. At 7 pm, the State Counsellor attended a dinner hosted by the Head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Mr. Song Tao.
