“Encouragement is essential for all the stakeholders who are in the struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic,” said State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, in her capacity as the Chairperson of the National Central Committee for COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment, in her video conference call from the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Those who participated in the video conference call with the State Counsellor were Specialist Professor Dr Sabai Phyu and Senior Nurse Daw Phyu Thi, who are providing medical treatment at the Waibargi Hospital in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region, and volunteer U Kaung Htet Pyae Sone from Nyaungshwe Township of southern Shan State.
They discussed the need for more medical staff, anxieties and morale of health workers and patients, accommodations and facilities for the patients at the Waibargi hospital and the role of volunteers.
In her concluding remarks, the State Counsellor said the reason why she held a video conference with front-line warriors was to help and encourage the health care workers, volunteers and responsible personnel from the administrative sector participating in containment, prevention and treatment of COVID-19 on ground.
She also expressed thanks to and appreciated the staff, volunteers and workers from the administrative sector of the hospital for their participation in fighting against the infectious disease.
She continued to say that those who received acknowledgement for their efforts would gain energy though they did not work for acknowledgement.
